At Kulturen’s Östarp you can experience an agricultural setting from the first half of the nineteenth century, with buildings, animals, and a garden in an old cultural landscape.
The timber-framed farmhouse Gamlegård with its enclosed courtyard is open to visitors in the summer season. The farm also includes a water mill, a windmill, a flax-preparing house, and a malthouse.
Around the farm there is an undulating cultural landscape that is ideal for lovely walks. At Östarp there are also old Swedish breeds of farm animals such as Linderöd pigs and Göinge goats. Here you can also enjoy a picnic spread or have a delicious meal at the Östarp Inn.
Through a generous donation, the founder of Kulturen, Georg Karlin, was able to buy Gamlegård in Östarp 1922. Instead of moving it to Kulturen in Lund, he decided to create a living museum in the middle of the cultural landscape.
